Symantec anuncia su conferencia anual para clientes y socios de la región

Tendrá como tema principal la protección de información alrededor de tendencias tecnológicas como la virtualización, movilidad, el cómputo en la nube y el actual escenario de amenazas. Se llevará a cabo el 10 de octubre en Sao Paulo, Brasil.

Durante Symantec Vision 2012 los profesionales de TI podrán conocer, directamente de la voz de los expertos de Symantec, información y tendencias alrededor de temas coyunturales de la industria, como seguridad móvil, cómputo en la nube, big data, así como tendencias en cuestión de amenazas informáticas, entre otros.

Cisco llevó a cabo el Xforum

Con la participación de más de 350 asistentes, durante el evento realizado el jueves en Buenos Aires, Cisco dio a conocer tendencias del mercado –como consumerización de IT, Cloud Computing, virtualización y colaboración–, los nuevos espacios de trabajo y las soluciones integrales que brinda la compañía en el marco del concepto “Trabajo sin fronteras”.

La apertura del evento estuvo a cargo de Juan Pablo Estévez, director regional para MCO de Cisco, quien destacó: “Hoy el espacio de trabajo ha evolucionado a la par de las nuevas tecnologías y Cisco brinda soluciones para que las empresas puedan acompañar este cambio”.

En este sentido, Gabriel Sakata, gerente de Arquitecturas Empresariales para MCO de Cisco, quien luego ofreció una presentación a la prensa, expresó: “Estamos hablando de un nuevo escenario de trabajo: Virtual, Móvil, Social y Visual y Trabajo sin fronteras es un concepto ideado para explicar este nuevo espacio de trabajo influenciado por las nuevas tecnologías y redes de comunicaciones a través de las cuales uno puede trabajar virtualmente desde cualquier lugar con acceso a Internet, con el dispositivo que mejor se adapte a esta situación (celular, tablet, notebook) y en el momento en que necesite”.

El ejecutivo comentó que Cisco acompaña a las compañías en esta evolución de tres maneras: desde el punto de vista de la red, teniendo en cuenta que el 50% de los dispositivos que se introducen en la misma no tienen conexión cableada; la colaboración, ofreciendo herramientas a tal fin; y la virtualización de escritorio, no tanto por el ahorro de costos sino principalmente por la protección de la información.

Sakata comentó que las preocupaciones de los clientes en Latinoamérica en ese sentido tienen que ver co identificar quién, cuándo, y cómo se conectan los empleados, aplicar acciones de remediación y políticas; permitir acceso a invitados y a dispositivos no IT, que conlleva el ingreso de nuevos proveedores; y la gestión dinámica e integrada con el menor control manual posible.



Microsoft lanzó Windows 8


Esta nueva era del legendario sistema operativo fue presentada en Nueva York por Steven Sinofsky, presidente de la división Windows de la compañía. Incorpora una interfaz completamente renovada, ofreciendo una experiencia de navegación no solo a través del mouse y teclado, sino también de un lápiz óptico y gestos táctiles. Existirán tres versiones: Windows 8, Windows RT y Windows 8 Pro. Los equipos que estarán disponibles en el mercado local.
Entre las principales características de Windows 8 se puede mencionar su adaptabilidad a diferentes tipos de equipos, como PCs, notebooks, notebooks convertibles  y tablets, y su nueva interfaz de usuario “reimaginada”, que reemplaza al tradicional escritorio por una serie de mosaicos de colores que permiten acceder a las diferentes aplicaciones. Sin embargo, el usuario tiene la opción de acceder al viejo diseño de pantalla de inicio.
En este sentido, la compañía también hizo hincapié en la disponibilidad de una amplia variedad de aplicaciones con la apertura de Windows Store.
Windows 8 ofrece el nuevo Internet Explorer 10, habilitado para tacto e integra capacidades en la nube con SkyDrive. Los archivos podrán almacenarse automáticamente a través del servicio de almacenamiento en la nube de Microsoft para poder acceder a ellos en cualquier lugar y a través de diferentes dispositivos

.

Las próximas ultrabooks serán táctiles y convertibles

En el marco del tradicional evento, que se lleva a cabo en México DF del 16 al 19 de octubre, Intel adelantó que las notebooks ultradelgadas que estarán disponibles en 2013 tendrán capacidades táctiles y diseños convertibles, de la mano de la incorporación de los procesadores Core de cuarta generación.

Durante el evento, que tiene como lema "Un concierto Tech que se vive en América Latina",Santiago Cardona, gerente del segmento de consumo de Intel para la región comentó que estos nuevos dispositivos contarán, además, con reconocimiento facial, permitirá comandos de voz, ofrecerá una mayor duración de batería, y tendrá fucniones de smartphone además de acelerómetro, giroscopio, brújula, etc.

La compañía destacó que las ultrabooks ofrecen un desempeño cada vez mayor, con una gran capacidad de respuesta, mayor rapidez para ingresar en sus aplicaciones y mucho más seguridad, además una duración de la batería sustancialmente más larga.

Asimismo, informó que en la actualidad existen 23 fabricantes de ultrabooks habilitados en América Latina, entre fabricantes globales y locales, entre ellos, Acer, Advance, Asus, Bangho, CCE, Dell, Exo, HP, Lanix, Lenovo, LG, Login, Megaware, PC Smart, Positivo, Positivo BGH, Qbex, Semp Toshiba, Samsung, Siragon, Sony, Toshiba y VIT.

Cardona también comentó que Intel trabaja pensando en diseños elegantes y livianos, que permitan tener nuevas experiencias en las ultrabooks. En ese sentido, los dispositivos con capacidad táctil tendrán en el teclado y mouse maneras mucho más funcionales para interactuar con lo que está en la pantalla.

De acuerdo con la compañía, la introducción de estos dispositivos táctiles es apenas el comienzo de un modelo emergente llamado “computación perceptiva”, o la habilidad de ofrecer sentidos humanos a la computadora, con el fin de permitir que la misma perciba naturalmente las intenciones del usuario.

Además, las Ultrabook convertibles ofrecerán pantalla dupla, plegable, giratorio, descartable, multi-touch o activada por lápiz, dependiendo del sistema.

Se prevé para la segunda mitad de 2013 una categoría emergente de dispositivos móviles, y algunos modelos de ultrabooks contarán con capacidades basadas en el tacto y la voz, baterías que duren todo el día y capacidad de carga inalámbrica, en diseños tradicionales y nuevos diseños convertibles. 
Mientras el reconocimiento táctil, de gestos y voz jugarán un papel esencial en “la computación perceptiva”, la llegada de Windows 8 “representará una gran oportunidad de crecimiento para Intel, al proporcionar la mejor experiencia, desempeño y compatibilidad entre las plataformas de cómputo”, aseguró la compañía..

4ª generación Intel Core

Se calcula que esta reducción en el consumo de energía en la 4ª generación sea en más de 20 veces en relación con la 2ª generación, al mismo tiempo que promete ofrecer un rendimiento y una capacidad de respuesta mucho más potente, la cual “habilitará una nueva ola de diseños móviles; mientras proporciona mejoras al procesador, y en su desempeño de gráficos y multimedia, dando inicio a una era de innovación sin precedentes en la computación móvil”, informó la compañía.

Cuando la 4ª generación de la familia de procesadores de 22 nm llegue a las ultrabooks ya las demás PCs en 2013, contarán con un soporte Intel HD Graphics, nuevas instrucciones para criptografía y desempeño más rápido, nuevas funcionalidades de seguridad basadas en hardware y procesadores de bajo consumo para permitir una mayor duración de la batería, afirmaron desde Intel.


Estará disponible en las versiones Windows 8 y Windows 8 Pro. En cuanto a los clientes empresariales, Windows 8 Enterprise ofrece nuevas posibilidades en productividad móvil (con funciones como Windows To Go, DirectAccess y BranchCache), además de seguridad de punta a punta mejorada (por medio de características como BitLocker y AppLocker. También se lanzará, simultáneamente, un nuevo integrante de la familia Windows diseñado para las tabletas basadas en ARM, Windows RT, que vendrá preinstalado en los dispositivos nuevos.
Hasta finales de enero, aquellos que tengan PCs con Windows XP, Windows Vista o Windows 7 pueden calificar para descargar Windows 8 Pro a un precio estimado de venta al público de U$S 39.99. Los usuarios en más de 140 países que adquieren PCs con Windows 7 entre el 2 de junio de 2012 y el 31 de enero de 2013 podrán descargar Windows 8 Pro a un precio estimado de venta de U$S 14.99 a través de la Oferta de Actualización de Windows, que está disponible enwww.actualizatuwindows.com.

Los usuarios podrán actualizar las PCs a Windows 8, bajándolo a través de Internet en más de 140 mercados y 37 idiomas en Windows.com, así como también en locales de venta de PCs y electrodomésticos en todo el mundo.

Surface
Luego de la presentación de Windows 8, la compañía anunció el lanzamiento de su propia tablet con pantalla Clear Type de 10” (1366x768), que vendrá con la versión RT del nuevo sistema operativo; capacidades de 32GB y 64GB, y 2GB de RAM. Se destaca además su resistencia a golpes y presiones. La Surface viene con NVIDIA T30 e incluye dos cámaras con resolución 720p y teclado ultradelgado. Tendrá instalado de fábrica el paquete Office.


La propuesta de Cisco es Identity Services Engine (ISE), una solución que, entre sus funcionalidades, permite el acceso o no a ciertas aplicaciones de la empresa de acuerdo con el dispositivo o la red a través de los cuales se está conectando el empleado, de manera automática. De acuerdo con lo informado por Sakata, en este momento este producto se encuentra en etapa de prueba piloto, 10 de ellos en la Argentina.

El ejecutivo aseguró que si bien no se trata de un negocio rentable para el canal comparable a lo que representa la arquitectura de red, representa a nivel tecnológico un diferencial importante de Cisco. En ese sentido, informó que la compañía ya llevó a cabo un ATP de ISE para una primera tanda de partners, y que próximamente realizará una nueva capacitación.

En cuanto al Video, Sakata afirmó que "agrega a esta virtualidad la posibilidad de que la comunicación sea mucho más rica y más parecida a la experiencia que tenemos cuando trabajamos en forma presencial. Existen estudios que demuestran que la comunicación tiene un impacto muy superior si a la interacción verbal se le suma la visual. Por eso el video genera una experiencia más rica en la comunicación que hace a la efectividad del mensaje”.

La Nube o Cloud fue otro de los temas que tuvo gran protagonismo. “Facilita la disponibilidad de aplicaciones y recursos de IT a los usuarios que se conectan desde cualquier punto de la red. La tendencia es que los usuarios no sólo eligen sus dispositivos, sino también sus aplicaciones y no les importa donde esas aplicaciones estén. Así, el concepto de Nube permite una mayor y más fácil disponibilidad de las aplicaciones, situación que acelera este cambio de paradigma de `trabajo sin fronteras´”, remarcó Sakata.

Por su parte, Romina Adduci, Directora de Investigación y Consultoría Telecomunicaciones América Latina de la consultora IDC, abordó el tema de Consumerización de TI como “ una tendencia por la cual la tecnología empieza primero en el hogar o el mercado de consumo y luego se expande dentro de las organizaciones”. Agregó que “hoy el usuario busca gestionar sus preferencias, es su propio CIO”. De acuerdo a los datos que arrojó un estudio realizado por  IDC, actualmente, en el mundo hay 120 millones de smartphones y tablets más que PCs.

Los asistentes pudieron además presenciaron distintas sesiones sobre Tendencias del Mercado Virtual, Móvil, Visual y Social; Redes sin Fronteras;  El Nuevo Espacio de Trabajo Colaborativo y Virtualización del Escritorio.
